Ellie's Birthday Party February 27th 2011

This year was our baby girls first Birthday. It is the first of many milestones our little Ellie will reach in her life. We were super excited to celebrate her Birthday, especially since as Mommy my last little girl first birthday celebration was over 9 years ago. We invited some friend and got tons of decorations.

This year Ellie’s theme was the little mermaid and yes she picked it out herself. She seems to have definite clear opinions on what she likes and don’t. We most of the time let her pick out everything she gets. Ellie had the cutest decorations and we even bought her a little mermaid cake from Wal – Mart, Ellie even got her own little personalized miniature cake to tear into, which was definitely a good thing.

We started our party out as we have done several before, we waited for our friends to show up, had them place gifts on a special table and had a bit of conversation while waiting for the pizza to be ready. We all enjoyed yummy pizza and then on to the real celebration. The cake and singing to our baby girl. We sang and let her dig into the big cake just a little, where she proceeded to pull her little mermaid statue off the cake.

Then it was time to give her, her own little cake, Most of the guests watched Ellie tear into her cake, or the lack there of. Laughing and talking about how carefully she was picking at the cake. I actually had to help her dig into it by giving her frosting and breaking off the corner of it a bit so she could see there was cake in there.

She still despite me showing her chooses to bend forward and to suck on the cake. I think she was saying “look Mom no hands”. It was absolutely darling how she tore into her cake. All our other kiddos would rip into them tearing them apart. Not our little Ellie, at least not to start.

Ellie sucked on the cake for a little bit leaving a very slight melted look in the cake, and then seemed to get bored with this.

She slowly started tearing into the cake starting with pulling all the frosting off first. After most of the frosting was off she picked some cake and ate it.

Towards the end she decided to mush the cake. Not really eat it but more of play with it. We all enjoyed the free entertainment while eating our own cake. After the cake was nothing but a pile of mush, we figured it was time to get to the most exciting part.

Opening gifts!!! We started with one of the most important gift ever. You see for our kids first Birthdays we always get them something meaningful something that will last them there whole lives and that they won’t be ashamed to have in each and every step of there lives. Something they can grow up with and maybe pass to their kids. Plus they’ve made it through a year of life, the very first year of many years to come. What a better gift to give. Ellie’s this year was a jewelry box with a butterfly on it. What better gift to give then that.

Then on with the rest of the gifts, which were quite a few. All we have had in our house is boys for 5 years, so we of course had to stock up on girl things. Ellie got a lot of stuff; some dolls, some little toys and a princess ride on toy. She even got tons of brand new outfits to wear.

All and all it was a good birthday party with some of our closest friends around to celebrate with us…. What better way to enjoy our baby girls first birthday.
